How to Deal with Writer’s Block?

Writer’s block plagues even the best composers, It’s apart of the creative process. You should not feel ashamed or concerned if your dealing with a creative block or have in the past.

Here are five tips to help you beat your writer’s block:

  1. Take a walk.
  2. Work on another creative project (draw, paint, etc.).
  3. Watch a TV show or film (catch some inspiration).
  4. Go play with your kids, or hang out with a friend, spouse, girlfriend, or boyfriend.
  5. Do chores around the house (mow grass, etc.).

Quick Tip: To help yourself be more creative, try to create a piece of music everyday, even if you cannot finish it. Just get in the habit of creating music.

If you would like help with being a better creative, check out the following book, Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative by Austin Kleon. I just finished reading this, and it’s totally change my approach at being a creative. It’s a very short read, only runs 140 pages. You should be able to read this in a day or two. I could not recommend this book more.
