Designing a Cybersecurity Awareness Course for My Instructional Design Portfolio

As I continue to advance in e-learning development and instructional design, I’m currently designing an interactive Cybersecurity Awareness Training course that will be showcased in my personal portfolio. This course is being crafted using Articulate Storyline, one of my preferred tools for creating engaging and scenario-based learning experiences.

The primary objective of this course is to equip employees across various organizations with the knowledge and skills to recognize, mitigate, and respond effectively to cybersecurity threats, a skill set that has become increasingly crucial in today’s digital era. The course covers a range of topics, including:

  • Identifying phishing, social engineering, and malware threats
  • Creating robust passwords and enabling multi-factor authentication
  • Practicing safe browsing and securing personal devices
  • Responding appropriately to suspicious activities or security breaches

This blog post serves as a design document for the project, outlining the learning objectives, interactions, assessments, and visual elements that will be incorporated during the development phase. Each module incorporates hands-on and gamified activities, such as identifying red flags in emails, selecting the correct course of action during simulated security breaches, and recognizing risky behaviors in a digital workplace environment.

Upon completion, this project will demonstrate my proficiency in:

  • Instructional design aligned with the ADDIE model
  • eLearning development using Articulate Storyline
  • Creating content that seamlessly combines technical accuracy with instructional creativity

Stay tuned for the live demo, and feel free to explore other samples of my work in the Instructional Design Portfolio section of my website.
